Apprentice Boril Dimov is loving every moment of his training.

Boril got a taste for engineering when he undertook a two-week work experience placement in one of our garages a few years ago. He enjoyed the two weeks so much that he decided he would make a formal application for an apprenticeship with us as soon at his first opportunity.

“I really loved the work placement,” said Boril. “Everyone was so helpful and friendly. At the end of the two weeks, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in engineering.”

He was “over the moon” when he was told that his application for an apprenticeship had been successful.

Boril has now entered the second year of his four-year apprenticeship and is loving every moment.

“I’ve never been more passionate to achieve something,” said Boril. “Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. They are brilliant, really supportive, and have always got time to explain things.”

He is studying bus mechanics and spent the first year learning about inspecting and servicing vehicles. His second year is involving deepening his knowledge about a wider range of tasks. His apprenticeship includes a great deal of electrical content, which he believes will be useful with all the electric buses that will be coming into the company this year.

“I enjoy every working day,” said Boril. “Every morning my alarm goes off at six o’clock and I think to myself ‘what am I going to be learning today’. I’m loving every minute. Yes, it’s challenging, but you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”
